Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

September 2023 marked the beginning of a heartwarming project that aims to help animal lovers commemorate their beloved pets that have passed away and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
We have all lost a pet at some point in our lives or know someone who has. And now, to honor their memory, we are offering memorial rocks. All you need to do is make a monetary donation in the amount of your choice and provide us with some information, such as your pet's name, their favorite activities, any preferred colors, and so on — we'll take care of the rest. If you prefer to paint the rock yourself, that's no problem. You can either use your own rock or choose one from our collection.
In Spring 2024, the Rim Country Garden Club will be assisting us in creating a Memorial Rock Garden at the front of the shelter. The garden will not only showcase your memorial rocks but also offer a relaxing sitting area where you can cherish the fond memories of your departed pet.
If you have any questions about the Memorial Rock Garden or wish to make a donation for a memorial rock, you can do so in three ways:
-
in person at our shelter located at 605 W Wilson Ct in Payson, Arizona,
-
by phone at 928-474-5590, or
-
by submitting an online donation form (below) specifically for the Memorial Rock Garden.
